My name is Clem. I have a Level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling. I'm a member of the National Counselling and Psychoterapy Society and I follow their ethical framework in my counselling practice. I attend supervision every two weeks. I offer sessions online via Zoom.
I'm 42 years old, cis female (she/her), and I speak fluent French and English. I identify as fat, white, feminist and queer (in no particular order). I aim to be an anti-racist and trans ally. I am currently training in East Africa to build a more expansive therapy practice. I enjoy swimming, hiking and painting with watercolours. I have tattoos and I love cats.
I'm used to working with diverse clients from different backgrounds, and different needs from therapy. This means diversity in terms of gender or sexual identities, relationship models, bodies, ethnicities, nationalities, class backgrounds, and cultural or religious identities. I work well with neurodivergent folks and with human rights activists of all kinds. I am also well attuned to people who don’t live in their country of birth and those who work cross-culturally in various ways, including journalists and aid workers.
I'm an integrative counsellor: that means that I use different counselling theories and approaches in order to support clients, because I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach for therapy.
I mainly use the following:
the humanistic approach (mainly Carl Rogers' person-centred approach)
the psychodynamic approach (which you may know as the classic Freudian approach)
elements of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
EMDR for trauma reprocessing
As your counsellor, I will provide you with a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential space where you can be yourself and talk about whatever you want. I will help you decide how you want to use your time for therapy and what for, and I will ensure that we stay focused on your agenda throughout our sessions.
My practice is called Be Kind Rewind, because I think therapy is first and foremost about cultivating kindness (to yourself, and to others). Therapy can also be a chance to rewind and check your patterns (the ones that are helpful, and the ones that are not), and even re-write your script for life.
